Welcome to Carter Plantation, among the most beautiful neighborhoods in South Louisiana.
This website was set up by the property owners association of Carter Plantation (CPCA) to promote community involvement and to serve as a place where information for and about Carter Plantation can be found.
Carter Plantation is a residential, resort and golf community set on 700 acres along the Blood River, near the historic town of Springfield in Livingston Parish. The community is approximately a one hour drive from New Orleans, thirty minutes from Baton Rouge, ten minutes from Ponchatoula and fifteen minutes from Hammond.
Carter Plantation features a spectacular golf course, the first designed by PGA Champion and Louisiana native David Toms. Complementing the dynamic Toms’ course is a 30,000 square foot dining, meeting, event and banquet center called The Pavilion. The golf course and Plantation Dining room are open to the public. Across the street from The Pavilion are a 1,500 square foot swimming pool, located along the back side of holes No. 9 and 10, and the Magnolia Ballroom and Conference Center – a 14,000 square foot event center, complete with a grand ballroom, board room, and an exquisite court yard. The pool area features a saltwater system pool, outdoor shower, custom waterfall, children’s pool and lush landscaping providing a secluded sun bathing area. Across from the Magnolia Ballroom and Conference Center are the Villas, onsite rental units providing perfect overnight, weekend getaway, or weeklong family vacation accommodations.
Carter Plantation residential, resort and golf community surrounds its namesake plantation home, The Historic Carter House. The recorded history of Carter Plantation dates back to 1804 when property was acquired by James Rheams under a Spanish land grant.
The residential part of the Community has estate‐sized, mid‐sized, garden and courtyard homes, all backing up to either a water, golf or nature view.
The outstanding natural beauty of the site, the exceptional resort facilities and the Louisiana tradition of friendliness, warmth and welcome combine to make Carter Plantation the richly enjoyable and distinctive place that it is.
